Decomposition of Estimates in a Layered Value-Added Assessment Model
نویسنده
چکیده
The layered model of Sanders, et al. (1997) is a value-added assessment model that uses multivariate longitudinal mixed model methodology. This model, whose advantages are reemphasized here, has been criticized for its complexity and lack of transparency. The main purpose of this paper is to provide more transparency for this model by comparing it to three sub-models which provide a decomposition of the layered model estimates. The comparisons make use of simple examples as well as explicit formulas which reveal how the layered model constructs teacher effects from student data. The comparisons reveal how the layered model incorporates past students scores, and future scores when available, to produce estimates with more appealing characteristics than alternative models, particularly in the case when the student population is divided into independent tracks.

Analysis of energy optimization policies in Iran using econometric & decomposition methods
In this research, energy data of the country from 1374 to 1397 are presented and econometric analysis and decomposition analysis methods (Laspeyres and Logarithmic mean Divisia index) are used to identify and determine the effect of activity, structure and energy intensity on energy consumption. The results of econometric method analysis show that the fitted function of energy consumption based...
متن کاملA Multi-layer Architecture Based on MCDM Methods to Select the Best E-Readiness Assessment Model According to SWOT Analysis
E-readiness is one of the major prerequisites for effective implementation of e-government. For the correct implementation of e-government, it is needed to accurately assess the state of e-readiness in desired community. In this regard, there are models to assess, but the correct choice of model is one of the most important challenges in this area. The process of evaluating and selecting the ap...
متن کاملChange Point Estimation of the Stationary State in Auto Regressive Moving Average Models, Using Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Singular Value Decomposition-based Filtering
In this paper, for the first time, the subject of change point estimation has been utilized in the stationary state of auto regressive moving average (ARMA) (1, 1). In the monitoring phase, in case the features of the question pursue a time series, i.e., ARMA(1,1), on the basis of the maximum likelihood technique, an approach will be developed for the estimation of the stationary state’s change...
